About

Amit Garg, the driving force behind Community Action Through Motivation Programme (CAMP), is a health entrepreneur and social reformer whose unwavering dedication to public service has touched millions of lives across India. Born on July 9, 1973, in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Garg’s journey is a powerful story of transformation—from personal adversity to national impact.

Raised in a value-driven environment and deeply inspired by Indian cultural wisdom and leaders like Baba Amte and Vinoba Bhave, Amit showed early signs of leadership and compassion. In his childhood, he formed a volunteer group named “Ramjee Ki Sena”, which collected and distributed food, clothes, books, and other essentials to underprivileged families. These grassroots beginnings laid the foundation for what would become one of India’s most impactful community service organizations—CAMP.

But it was a life-changing event in 2002 that truly shaped Amit’s destiny. A fire accident at his workplace resulted in over 70% burns to his body. For 18 months, he remained bedridden and in recovery, enduring extreme pain, surgeries, and emotional trauma. During this difficult phase, he experienced first-hand the gaps in India’s emergency medical response and health infrastructure. He emerged from this experience not only physically healed but spiritually awakened—with a new mission in life: to make quality healthcare accessible to all, especially the marginalized.

From this moment of clarity, CAMP was born.

Starting his journey from the tribal belt of Jawa in Rewa, Amit mobilized youth and local influencers to form “Vikas Sena”, a people’s movement for change. He led by example—working on the ground, conducting community awareness camps, addressing taboo issues like early child marriage and domestic violence, and spreading awareness about health, hygiene, and government schemes. His unique approach focused on local empowerment, helping villagers become the architects of their own development.

Under his leadership, CAMP grew exponentially. Today, the organization operates across multiple Indian states, managing over 200 Mobile Medical Units, 1,500 ambulances, emergency response services (102/108), veterinary mobile clinics, and various social welfare programs. CAMP has become synonymous with prompt, people-centered, and inclusive service delivery.

Amit’s leadership style is rooted in humility, empathy, and action. He believes in leading from the front, often working alongside field staff in remote villages. He maintains that real change can only happen when you understand people’s problems at the ground level. His ability to convert adversity into purpose, and vision into action, has earned him accolades at local, state, and national levels.

Beyond infrastructure and service delivery, Mr. Garg’s focus remains steadfast on women and child welfare. He believes that empowering women—especially mothers—and ensuring healthy childhood development can transform future generations. CAMP’s targeted programs for nutrition, maternal health, reproductive education, and financial literacy for women have helped thousands build better lives for themselves and their families.

Amit also emphasizes the importance of the “Golden Hour” in emergency medicine. Drawing from his personal trauma, he has worked tirelessly to improve ambulance response systems in states like Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Tripura. His belief, “Agar Jeevan Hai Toh Sab Kuch Sambhav Hai” (“If there is life, anything is possible”), underlines every initiative he leads.

In recent years, he has expanded his focus to environmental sustainability, water safety, and the promotion of sanitation in alignment with national campaigns like Swachh Bharat Mission. His belief in holistic community development sees him working not just as an administrator, but as a mentor, motivator, and mobilizer.

Amit’s leadership philosophy is encapsulated in an ancient Sanskrit shloka that guides his work:

अमन्त्रमक्षरं नास्ति नास्ति मूलमनौषधम्।
अयोग्यः पुरुषो नास्ति योजकस्तत्र दुर्लभः॥

“There is no word that cannot be a mantra, no plant that lacks medicinal value; no person is without potential—what is rare is someone who can harness that potential.”

Mr. Amit Garg is that rare leader. Through CAMP, he continues to harness the hidden strengths of people and communities—turning them into changemakers, caregivers, and champions of progress.
