Supporting the implementation of the Multi Village Scheme (MVS) in different Districts under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
Key activities include:
Community Mobilization: Facilitate participation of Gram Panchayats, VWSCs (Village Water and Sanitation Committees), and local communities in planning, implementation, and O&M of in-village water supply systems.
Capacity Building: Conduct training sessions for local governance bodies and community-based institutions.
Awareness Campaigns: Promote safe water practices, water conservation, and sustainability.
Data Collection & Baseline Survey: Assist in household-level data collection and socio-economic mapping to aid in Village Action Plan (VAP) preparation.
Village Action Plan (VAP): Support formulation of VAPs through PRA techniques, including source sustainability and infrastructure planning.
Monitoring & Support: Provide ongoing support during execution and post-implementation phases to ensure sustainability and community ownership.
Objective of the Project
The core objective of this initiative is to:
Achieve universal access to Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in rural areas.
Ensure equitable, adequate, and regular water supply of prescribed quality to every rural household, in line with Jal Jeevan Mission’s national goals.
Build a decentralized, demand-driven, and community-managed water supply system that is technically sound, financially sustainable, and socially inclusive.
Strengthen the institutional capacities of local bodies and ensure ownership and long-term sustainability of the water infrastructure through community participation.
Project Output / Deliverables
The project aims to deliver the following tangible outputs:
Baseline Household Surveys completed for all target villages.
Village Action Plans (VAPs) developed and submitted as per JJM guidelines.
Strengthened VWSCs and Gram Panchayats, trained to manage and maintain water supply infrastructure.
Widespread awareness on water quality, water-borne diseases, and conservation techniques.
Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) planned and community mechanisms set in place for operation and maintenance.
Monthly Progress Reports and documentation of milestones achieved submitted to MP Jal Nigam.
A fully mobilized team comprising community mobilizers, coordinators, and domain experts as per manpower requirements.
End-to-end community engagement in planning, execution, and monitoring of the water supply system.
